The Master of Research in Philosophy is an academic program for the training of professionals in different branches of the social sciences, humanities and the so-called exact sciences that aspire to a rigorous approach to the philosophical dimension of what happens around us.

The University of Azuay seeks to contribute to the development of universal, critical and reflective thinking of the teachers, promoting in them freedom of thought, ideological pluralism, respect for others and their ethical responsibility.

Starting from the study of philosophical thought in its different historical currents, the program covers the most important branches of philosophy in order to critically analyze the most relevant concepts for the interpretation of contemporary philosophical debates with methods typical of this discipline with an interdisciplinary approach and plural.

Graduate profile

The Master in Philosophy graduated from the University of Azuay is a professional with a deeper knowledge of contemporary philosophical problems; They will have a plural, broad and critical training in the fields of knowledge offered by the program. Graduates, who come from different professions, will be able to acquire knowledge and skills to expand, enrich and problematize the various aspects of their disciplinary origin.

In the same way, the professionals who graduate from the program will be able to act with solvency in different investigative dynamics that allow them to contribute to projects of various kinds.

Entry requirements

The program is broad and inclusive in its conception and therefore it is aimed at professionals from different areas of knowledge such as: Social Sciences, Philosophy, History, Social Communication, Law, Arts, Education, Natural Sciences, Economics and Health, with a degree third grade level registered in SENESCYT.

Admission process

Applicants must pre-register on the website of the postgraduate department (https://www.uazuay.edu.ec/admisiones/posgrados/), here they must upload documentation such as the third-level degree, their updated CV, certificate of approval of English at the university that graduated (in case of not having a certificate of approval of English, the UDA will take an exam that demonstrates a level B1), and passport-size photo. Once the pre-registration has been made, for this, the registration must be paid (50 USD) through the payment button with any credit card, in the University Treasury or by deposit or bank transfer to the following accounts:
