The University of Azuay presents the third version of the Master in Neuropsychology. This master's degree seeks to generate professionals in the area of ​​mental health who work and contribute to the well-being of the general population in all age groups. This master's degree is formative and investigative and covers four areas: Developmental Neuropsychology, Neuropsychology of Education, Neuropsychology of brain damage and Neuropsychology of the Elderly, which will allow students to subsequently access a doctoral program. 

This program proposes to go through different theoretical currents, in order to have an adequate handling of neuropsychological diagnostic instruments, as well as basic instruments for research. With this, the principles of rehabilitation can be applied to carry out programs according to the diagnosis made. In addition, there is a strong component regarding the management of scientific research methodology, in order to generate prevention elements that respond to local and / or national needs and problems.

Modules taught by national and foreign teachers: Monday to Friday (17:00 p.m. - 22:00 p.m.) and Saturdays (8:00 a.m. - 13:00 p.m.).

Graduate profile

The University of Azuay, remains at the forefront in the development of postgraduate studies focused on the current and future needs of the environment; Thus, aware of the need to have professionals of excellence for the area of ​​Neuropsychology, it offers this master's degree, where its graduates will acquire the necessary skills and abilities to be able to adequately identify alterations in psychic functions, through correct handling of neuropsychological diagnostic instruments; with which they will be able to generate prevention or rehabilitation programs with optimal results. 

The teachers graduated from the Neuropsychology Program will obtain the fundamental theoretical knowledge of the Historical-Cultural current, as well as the Cognitive one; being able to adequately differentiate them from other currents of study. Likewise, they will learn about the most frequent childhood disorders and will differentiate the neuropsychology of the adult, from that of the elderly. 

Academic planned for this master's degree, the graduate teachers will learn all the tools to strengthen their knowledge in scientific research methodologies and will develop a scientific article that will be a reference for their personal curriculum.

Entry requirements

This Master's program is directed according to the lines of research as follows:

  • Developmental Neuropsychology: Clinical Psychologists, Early Stimulators, Speech Therapists, Speech Therapists.
  • Neuropsychology of learning: Clinical Psychologists and Educational Psychologist, speech therapists.
  • Neuropsychology of brain damage: Clinical Psychologists, Physicians, Speech Therapists.
  • Neuropsychology of the adult and the elderly: Clinical Psychologists.
Admission process

Applicants must pre-register on the website of the postgraduate department (https://www.uazuay.edu.ec/admisiones/posgrados/), here they must upload documentation such as the third-level degree, their updated CV, certificate of approval of English at the university that graduated (in case of not having a certificate of approval of English, the UDA will take an exam that demonstrates a level B1), and passport-size photo. Once the pre-registration has been made, for this, the registration must be paid (50 USD) through the payment button with any credit card, in the University Treasury or by deposit or bank transfer to the following accounts:
