The University of Azuay seeks to continuously contribute to society through the training of individuals in an integral way, in excellence and with critical thinking. Specifically, the MACCARD program provides training opportunities in the fundamental aspects that lead to understanding the climate crisis, its triggers and triggers, current and future perspectives on the climate, as well as the impact on the natural balance of ecosystems, systems of agricultural production, food security and water availability of communities and human groups.

MACCARD is an Erasmus + Program that seeks to promote the mobility of graduate students. To do this, students can take courses at any of the participating self-financed Universities and can attend study visits at the Universities of Peru with funding from the MACCARD program. The participating Universities are the following:

• Ikiam Amazon Regional University (Ecuador)
• National University of Jaén (Peru)
• National University Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza de Amazonas (Peru).

Graduate profile

Graduates of the MACCARD Program will be able to understand climate change processes, identify impacts and risks in agricultural systems to establish adaptation and mitigation strategies that allow sustainable development.

They may continue their training in research or may choose to be employed in public and private institutions providing scientific and technical knowledge about the climate, the nexus between water, energy and food in a context of climate change, agriculture, the monitoring of indicators. of the sustainable development objectives in climate change and sustainable rural development and the implementation of adaptation and mitigation strategies.

MACCARD is aimed at professionals with a third level degree, preferably in the areas of Agroecology, Agronomy, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, Ecology, Statistics, Physics, Geography, Geology, Hydraulics, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Engineering Environmental, Natural Resources.

Admission process

Applicants must pre-register on the website of the postgraduate department (https://www.uazuay.edu.ec/admisiones/posgrados/), here they must upload documentation such as the third-level degree, their updated CV, certificate of approval of English at the university that graduated (in case of not having a certificate of approval of English, the UDA will take an exam that demonstrates a level B1), and passport-size photo. Once the pre-registration has been made, for this, the registration must be paid (50 USD) through the payment button with any credit card, in the University Treasury or by deposit or bank transfer to the following accounts:
