The Academic Master's Degree in Cancerology is aimed at all professionals, especially general practitioners, rural doctors, the Rural Social Security, family doctors, internists and related specialties.

The commitment is to train experts with up-to-date medical and professional knowledge in the field of cancer, with skills and abilities appropriate to medical practice, and with appropriate fundamental values ​​and behaviors; with an integral vision of the patient, the family and their social environment, respecting the principles of multinationality and interculturality.

The curriculum begins with general topics such as prevention, nosological and extension diagnosis, and the initial approach to cancer; then he delves into the study of its main locations and the management of oncological emergencies.

In addition, modules of research and evidence medicine, bioethics and administration are analyzed, with subjects parallel to all the postgraduate degrees in medicine offered by the University of Azuay.

CLASS SCHEDULE

The first week of each month: Monday to Friday from 18:00 p.m. to 21:00 p.m. Saturday from 09:00 to 12:00.

Graduate profile

At the end of the degree, the medical professional will be able to:

  • Discern established and evolving advances regarding health and disease states; as well as epidemiology, physiology and pathophysiology, clinical and comprehensive management of cancer diseases.
  • Integrate the knowledge and skills acquired in the systematic approach to patients with cancer or at risk of developing it, using established practical methods, in a protocolized manner, based on universal guidelines and recommendations based on evidence.
  • Understand the importance of health care systems, in all their context, to make effective use of all available health resources, demonstrating a permanent attitude of seeking new knowledge and cultivating autonomous learning of advances in cancer management.
  • Commit to carry out professional responsibilities under ethical and legal principles; acting with honesty and integrity, respecting the customs, faith and values ​​of patients, the family and the community; and developing interpersonal and inter-institutional communication and collaboration strengths.

Entry requirements
  • For the master's degree in cancerology, students need to have a third-level medical degree, granted by a national or international university, duly accredited in the country in the National Information System of Higher Education of Ecuador (SNIESE) and certified by Council for the Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CACES).
  • Proficiency in English, level B1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for the English Language.
  • Approve a clinical demonstration of admission of a patient, or a personal interview.
