Train pediatric specialists with a high level of scientific medical knowledge; capable of providing appropriate, compassionate and effective care; with the ability to investigate and evaluate the care of their patients; with systems-based practices; with an efficient and adequate level of communication with the patient and his family; with the capacity to function in the corresponding community, thus contributing to meet the health needs of the Ecuadorian population, in accordance with the country's development plans.
To know:
to. Properly manage the growth and development of the healthy child with respect to height, weight, neurological and cognitive development, neuromotor as well as nutrition and detection of variables that alert potential abnormalities.
b. Discern established and evolving advances in epidemiology, pathophysiology, biomedical and clinical evolution of diseases in pediatric patients.
c. Deploy a differential diagnosis when evaluating an undifferentiated patient and create a diagnosis plan from that.
d. Develop a management plan for the patient, both with an undifferentiated disorder or a specific process.
and. To act in the different care environments such as hospitalization, emergency and outpatient, as well as in the prevention and promotion of health in its various facets.
F. Understand the importance of health care systems, in the broader context, as well as make effective use of other resources, in order to provide optimal health care.
Know to do:
to. Establish concepts and theories based on scientific evidence and continuous research, which allows appropriate care, from the individual and multidisciplinary point of view.
b. Use established practical methods, in a protocolized manner, based on universal guidelines and evidence-based recommendations, using scientific information with critical judgment.
c. Integrate the knowledge and skills acquired in the systematic approach to pediatric patients. d. Carry out teaching and research activities that feed back their medical practice and enable their own continuing medical education.
Know to know
to. Deploy a critical reading of the scientific literature regarding the various acute and chronic pathologies and effectively use the information available on patient care.
b. Use the scientific knowledge acquired for scientific reflection in the proactive search for knowledge.
c. Develop interest in scientific research under the principles of good research practices, personally or through international national multicenter networks.
d. Demonstrate a permanent attitude of search for new knowledge, cultivate independent and autonomous learning of the advances in medicine.
Be:
to. Carry out their professional responsibilities on the basis of ethical principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, equity and justice, respecting the autonomy of the patient.
b. Attend to children from different geographical locations, social and economic strata, considering the differences between the child and the family and between the family and the community.
c. Demonstrate interpersonal communication strengths, respecting the diversity of opinions and actions, communicate effectively with patients, patients' families and other members of the health team.
d. Cultivate the skills necessary for empathic, affable and courteous management, respecting the customs, faith and values of the family and the community where they operate.
and. Develop a positive attitude in whatever field you are assigned to, in an emergency situation or not, with critical but innovative and creative thinking.
F. Cultivate fear and criticism towards the error of the natural medical act, trying to control the doctor's tendency to impotence
