The Master's Degree in Neuropsychology seeks to generate professionals in the area of mental health who work and contribute to the well-being of the general population in all age groups. This master's degree is training and research and covers four areas: Developmental Neuropsychology, Educational Neuropsychology, Neuropsychology of brain damage and Neuropsychology of the elderly, which will allow students to later access a doctoral program.
This program proposes to go through different theoretical currents, in order to have adequate management of neuropsychological diagnostic instruments, as well as basic instruments for research.
With this, the principles of rehabilitation can be applied to carry out programs according to the diagnosis made.
In addition, there is a strong scientific research component, in order to generate prevention elements that respond to local and/or national needs and problems.

The University of Azuay, remains at the forefront in the development of postgraduate studies focused on the current and future needs of the environment; Thus, aware of the need to have professionals of excellence for the area of Neuropsychology, it offers this master's degree, where its graduates will acquire the necessary skills and abilities to be able to adequately identify alterations in psychic functions, through correct handling of neuropsychological diagnostic instruments; with which they will be able to generate prevention or rehabilitation programs with optimal results.
The teachers graduated from the Neuropsychology Program will obtain the fundamental theoretical knowledge of the Historical-Cultural current, as well as the Cognitive one; being able to adequately differentiate them from other currents of study. Likewise, they will learn about the most frequent childhood disorders and will differentiate the neuropsychology of the adult, from that of the elderly.
According to the academic framework planned for this master's degree, the graduated masters will learn all the tools to strengthen their knowledge in scientific research methodologies and will develop a scientific article that will be a reference for their personal resume.
